Project Overview

Council will be constructing a footpath along the south side of Fowler Road in Dandenong South, between South Gippsland Highway and the Eumemmerring Creek Bridge. 

Once complete this footpath will provide a pedestrian connection from South Gippsland Highway to Nathan Road.

This footpath is funded by the Level Crossing Removal Project as part of the Progress Street Level Crossing Removal.

How will pedestrians access Fowler Road during the works?

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works as part of the traffic management requirements. Pedestrian will need to follow signage and traffic controller directions to move around the current section of works.

What will happen to the temporary path?

The temporary footpath will be removed in sections as construction progresses along Fowler Road. 

Will the path be a shared path usable by cyclists?

No. The footpath has been designed to be used by pedestrians only.

Australia Post bikes and EDVs may use this path as they have an exemption within the Road Rules allowing them to use a footpath.

Yes. Australia Post bikes and EDVs may use this path as they have an exemption within the Road Rules allowing them to use a footpath.

The path has a wider design than a standard path to accommodate these bikes and EDVs if required.

Will the design be changed?

Changes to the design may be made during construction based on contractor and community feedback.

Will my driveway be impacted by the works?

A number of properties will have their driveway access impacted during these works. The contractor will contact any impacted properties to discuss the changes and work with them to minimise the impacts.
